Introducing the Pink ice plant, known as Oscularia deltoides, which is a trailing succulent with pink flowers. Native to South Africa, this low-maintenance succulent makes great ground cover and spreads out, forming a colorful mat, and grows well on the rocky edge. Additionally, this pink ice plant can be grown in pots too.

The name "ice plant" refers to tiny hairs on the plant's leaves and stems that reflect light in the same way that ice crystals do. The foliage is fleshy and succulent-like, and it darkens as fall temperatures drop. Although ice plants are cold-sensitive, many varieties are evergreen in warm, dry climates.

Ice plants are used in sunny but sheltered desert gardens, rock gardens, slopes, ground cover, and as edging plants.

It is also known as Lampranthus Deltoides, Deltoid Leaved Dew Plant, Tooth-leaf Rock Vygie, Dassievygie, and Sandsteenvygie.

With its small, plump leaves that boast a mesmerizing blue-green hue, this ice plant is sure to turn heads and add drama to any space.

The three-sided leaves of the ice plant are fat and trailing.  The color becomes more intense as the pink ice plant ages and is exposed to more sunlight. It can grow up to 1 foot tall and 2 feet wide.

The ice plant flowers bloom during the late spring to summer, with bright pinkish-purple and dazzling magenta-pink flowers. They bloom from every nook and cranny until they completely surround and cover the whole plant. This stunning ground covered with pink flowers is closed up in the morning but open, often to cover the plant, in the afternoon.

The true beauty of this trailing plant is that it can withstand high temperatures and extreme environmental conditions without showing signs of stress. It attracts butterflies.

Leaf cuttings and stem cuttings are the easiest way to propagate these ice plant ground cover.

When and How to Water Your Ice Plant

The ice plant is a succulent that prefers well-draining soil and requires watering only when the soil is dry to the touch. Overwatering can cause root rot and other issues that can damage these pink plants. They can be watered year-round and water regularly from spring to Autumn but reduce the watering frequency in winter; the growth period is early Spring to late Summer.

When watering the pink ice plant, it is important to avoid standing water and to ensure that the soil is able to dry out between watering sessions. The pink ice plant is well-suited to dry climates and can tolerate periods of drought, but it does require a lot of water to thrive.

Remember, watering should be done at the base of the succulent ice plant rather than from above to avoid getting water on the leaves, which can cause damage or rot. With proper watering and care, the pink ice plant can thrive and produce colorful blooms that are sure to brighten up any garden.

Light Requirements - Where to Put Ice Plant

Like many other succulents, the ice plant is sun-loving and also requires direct, bright light to thrive.  When grown indoors, place it in the sunniest place in your house. It is ideal to grow this pink flower ground cover in a west- or south-facing window, when it can get 4-6 hours of bright sunlight.

For outdoor cultivation, these oscularia deltoides require full sun to partial shade for at least 6-8 hours of strong light each day. Although light shade in the afternoon is often preferable - especially in hotter climates where the plant might become stressed by the intense heat of the afternoon sun. It's crucial to place your pink plants away from any areas with constant direct sunlight, as doing so could result in burned foliage.

Remember, when planting the pink ice plant, it is important to choose a location that receives full sun throughout the day to maintain its colors. It is well-suited to hot and dry climates and can tolerate high temperatures and intense sunlight.

This pink ice is able to tolerate some shade, but it may not produce as many blooms in areas with less sunlight or in too much shade. With proper light and care, the pink ice plant can thrive and produce beautiful blooms that are sure to add color and interest to any garden or landscape.

Optimal Soil & Fertilizer Needs

The ice plant favors very airy, sandy soil that drains well. Planting them in ordinary soil will result in compacted roots, stunted growth, and, most likely, root rot. Instead, make or buy a well-draining potting mix, or ideally, use our specialized potting mix that contains 5 natural substrates and mycorrhizae to promote the development of a strong root system that helps your succulent to thrive.

When it comes to fertilizer, the pink ice plant does not require a lot of additional nutrients. In fact, too much fertilizer can cause the plant to produce excessive foliage at the expense of blooms. A slow-release natural fertilizer with an equal mix of NPK (5-10-5) can be applied once a year in the spring to help provide the plant with the nutrients it needs to thrive. Care should be taken to avoid over-fertilizing the succulent plant, as this can lead to issues with growth and blooming.

With proper soil and fertilizer, the ice flower plant can thrive and produce beautiful blooms that are sure to add color and interest to any garden or landscape.

Hardiness Zones & More

When growing indoors, it should be kept between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure optimal growth. The requirements are fairly flexible, as it can tolerate a wide range of temperatures. However, it is best to keep it in a warm environment with plenty of sunlight to encourage healthy growth.

For outdoor cultivation, this hardy ice plant is suitable outdoors in USDA zones 8-11, making oscularia deltoidesa a versatile plant that can be grown in a variety of climates. However, it is important to ensure that the succulent plants receive enough water to prevent issues with dehydration.

The ice plant is able to tolerate mild frost, but it may struggle in areas with prolonged periods of frost or freezing temperatures. The best way to grow these pink ground covers is in containers, especially for those who live in regions with harsh winters.

When it's cold outside, or there is a chance of snow or frost, you can then bring them inside. There are ways to keep your pink ice plant succulent safe from the cold if you are unable to bring it inside. To help them endure the harsh winter, you can use frost cloths or tiny greenhouses.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Pink Ice plant Succulent (Oscularia deltoides) is a beautiful and low-maintenance plant that adds a pop of color to any garden or indoor space. With its unique triangular-shaped leaves and ability to thrive in dry conditions, it is an excellent choice for beginner gardeners or those looking to add a touch of vibrancy to their collection. Remember to provide well-draining soil, ample sunlight, and occasional watering to keep this succulent happy and healthy.

Review after a year of use
So i had this Vacuum for a little over a year, and i am happy with it, but in the past couple of months some issues showed up / or where kind of present the whole time because of how it works... - Its gonna find everything, and its gonna eat everything: Cables on Floors in general, behind couches, or behind sideboards, corners of lightweight carpets - gonna get stuck in the brush or robot looses contact to the floor with wheels (f.e. behind media sideboards)...you have to make sure nothing is on the floors where it could get stuck, even shoes are sometimes difficult for it. - Under Couch issue (all the time issue): the Lidar Sensor is on top of the robot (highest point) If you have a couch where the fabric underneath hangs a little down, the robot goes there but gets stuck because the Lidar sensor cant see anything, because the fabric hangs down on it. And im not talking ripped fabric - its just bulging down a little but thats enough in my case to cover the Sensor and its just sitting down there - spinning and turning, until i get under the couch and push the fabric up a little... - Battery Runtime (all the time issue): I have aprox. 1400sqft living space under AC - it needs up to 1-2 battery charges on "standard mode" to clean all floors 1x. - Corner or Edge Cleaning brush (showed up after aprox 11 months): starts to squeak sometimes really loud. Since i changed them regularly as recommended, i made sure its always clean beneath the brush and the mount, so no hair or any other debris down there. - It has problems with sliding doors (all the time issue): scans trough the doors and wants do go there but cant of course. You have to go into the app and draw a line close to sliding doors so it doesn't try to go there.... - Biggest inconvenience (showed up after 12 months): it happens to me almost every time after a clean, It drives back onto the base station - and it feels like the charging Pins either on the base or on the robot, lose contact, and the robot just discharges and next time you want to use it (f.e next day), its Batteries are empty, and you have to try turn it back on (with empty batteries) and wait for it to charge up. i cleaned both pins on the base station and the contact surfaces on the robot (no, no protective plastic strips on pins or contacts) but it doesn't really seem to help. - Sometimes the app / Robot looses Maps (sporadically): The first thing is a mapping. Robot drives around and scans the whole area - splits the map into different rooms. You can adjust this Rooms and "No go zones" via the app. Sometimes those maps inside the app go "bye bye" and you have to do it all over again. Other than that its a very nice robot and it does its thing.

App/Vacuum Loses maps after 3 months of use.
I'm hoping someone from Eufy is monitoring these reviews. We love...loved our Eufy. It works great. The mapping and map editing is so nice to be able to program the vacuum to clean different rooms each day. We love the self cleaning system that empties the Eufy after each use. We owned a Roomba a few years ago with the self empty option and it never worked. We had it replaced by Roomba twice and it still never worked. This one works exceptionally well. BUT here we are 3 months later and the app is losing the map. nearly every day, the system has to re-map our entire space. Yesterday, it had no map and went down the stairs. The unit is supposed to have a sensor to prevent it from going where there are drop offs but apparently this issue with the mapping is also showing up in the unit being unable to stay in the cleaning area. I'm hoping that someone from Eufy will reach out to help. Thanks,

Quiet, that's about the only good quality
UPDATE: Moving to 5 stars! Quickly after my 2 star review (below) the seller reached out and askked to exchange the defective product for an upgraded model at no cost to me. They were attentive and quick in responding, and I received a replacement version that also included the mopping functionality (The first didn't have this), and it works as expected. Customer service was too notch. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again. This is a lot quieter than my original Roomba, that is still running strong...but I wanted a 2nd robot vac so I could run one on the main floor and 2nd floor of my home. This one doesn't fit the bill, and I will be returning. I ran it while I was at home, and it stopped 4 times, telling me I needed to clean the brush. There was absolutely nothing bound on the brush any of the times. But had I not been home, it wouldn't have finished cleaning because it stops completely when it thinks there is hair. Then, another time, it just stopped running. It didn't say anything, so I don't know why it stopped. I assume it thought it was done, but the whole level of my home wasn't finished. This was all in just the one time I attempted to run it for 1 cycle. When I pushed the start button again, it said something to the effect of starting cleaning, so that's what makes me assume the last cycle was over. It does clean well, and is very quiet; however, it just stops for no reason far too often. I want it to run while I'm at the office, which obviously won't work if I have to be here babysitting it for the imaginary dirt on the brush. This will unfortunately be getting returned. I think I'll stick to the Roomba brand, as I have far less issues with my 10+ year old vac than this new one with all the nice features.

Decent robot vacuum, but struggles with dog hair
The setup was straightforward and the self-empty station is a nice feature. It navigates the house fairly well and does a decent job picking up everyday dust and debris on hard floors. Where it struggles is with dog hair. With a shedding dog in the house, I noticed it tends to leave behind quite a bit of hair, especially along edges and in areas where it tends to accumulate. It works better for lighter debris but doesn’t seem powerful enough to keep up with heavier pet hair. Pros: Easy setup and app integration Self-empty station is convenient Navigates rooms fairly well Cons: Struggles with dog hair Not as strong as expected for pet households Bottom Line: This vacuum works fine for general cleaning and light debris, but if you have a dog that sheds a lot, it may not keep up as well as expected. For pet owners specifically, it might not be the best fit.

Very Disappointed with this Vacuum
After having a Shark Robot Vacuum for many years, my husband decided to upgrade to newer technology (easier boundary settings, better mapping etc) On a good note, when this thing works - it works great. One of my biggest complaints with the Shark was I had to put physical boundary strips at the top of the stairs etc. This Eufy is very easy to set "no go zones" on the app, works famously in that aspect. This vac also seems to "work" in a more organized manner. I can see on the app exactly what was cleaned after every scheduled cleaning etc. The Shark would just buzz around the house all willy nilly, but this Eufy seems to be very organized in the cleaning, not missing anywhere. Now for the most aggravating part. I have my Eufy scheduled to clean every night @ 1:00 am, while we are sleeping. Most nights @ 1:15 am I get a notification on my phone "Roller Brush Stuck". Well obviously I don't see the notification until morning. I go "find" Eufy (which is easy with the app - shows you right where she is - another nice thing compared to the Shark) Pull the Roller Brush, which mind you, nothing is wrong with, it is not stuck, there is nothing wrapped around it etc. Put it back in & restart. This has done this since day one, brand new out of the box. After doing some scouring of the Internet, I see that this is a big complaint with many other owners of this model. From what I gather, Eufy is aware of this and it is a known problem. I called Eufy Customer Care after about using this for one week. The phone call lasted over 45 minutes (part of my life that I will never get back!) Now mind you, the representative was very helpful & thorough. We walked through a couple procedures, (The Rep had me pull the roller brush etc & report to her what I was "seeing") Which again, I had performed everything the Rep had me do religiously for the past week, but No, she like wouldn't take my word for it, I had to do all this again while on the phone with her - - almost like she didn't believe me at first. Next, the Rep offered to send me a "newer design roller brush" Ok, cool, if it solves the problem let's do it - I just wanted to get off the phone & on with my day. Oh wait, there are no new design roller brushes in stock. Now I'm told to send just the robot back (not the dock) I told the Rep to send me a call tag, as I wasn't going to pay shipping on a "brand new used one week" item. Oh wait, now she has located the replacement roller brushes. So here we are back to the original solution, she will send me a replacement roller brush. Took my name, my address, phone number, name of first & last born children etc. Just a long drawn out process to send me the "fix" for their known manufacture problem. So to make my long story even longer, here I sit a month and a 1/2 later without ever receiving the replacement brush and an unreliable product who doesn't complete her "mission" most nights. I wish this vacuum was still within the 30 day Amazon return period, because I would have sent it back after experiencing this defect. However my husband had bought this for me for Christmas (before the date that Amazon offers their extended holiday returns window) I didn't even unbox this vacuum before the 30 days were up. The App with the mapping & the expansive scheduling options is great compared to the Shark, but I bought the Eufy to vacuum, which she fails @ nightly.
