With its wild "bad hair day" leaves and its sturdy, bulbous trunk, it’s a living piece of funky sculpture that’s nearly impossible to kill. The Ponytail Palm is the ultimate "personality" plant. It starts with a thick, woody base (called a caudex) that looks like an elephant’s foot, then erupts into a fountain of long, thin, curling green leaves.
